christians come in many shapes sizes and yes, oh my gosh dare i say it, beliefs. roman catholics interpret some things different than evangelical fundamentalists, baptists differ from methodists who differ from disciples of christ, etc. dr. dobson has the right, as an american to challenge obama, but the reverse is also true. christians who take the stand that only their interpretation or presentation of the bible is the "one true belief", we run the risk of creating a "christian taliban". christianity is a living organism, not a dead theology. btw i do not agree with some of obama's interpretation but as a christian and an american, i will defend to my death his right to voice his opinions and the right to others to challenge those opinions.

Agreed. He who stands for nothing will fall for anything.

I agree! Balanced inspection of both candidates, not just Senator Obama.

Dr. Dobson was right to challenge Obama's interpretation of scripture. I am always amazed at those who say we should give a "balanced" view of some political/religous position. How can you give a "balanced" view of something you don't agree with? I don't see Obama giving a "balanced" view of Dr. Dobson. I am also amazed when people think one has to always be "positive". How can you be positive about something that isn't true when it is being protrayed as true? Jesus and the apostles were negative when ever people were trying to present false ideas. They were not tolerant of wrong ideas. They called for repentance and turning to the truth when they confronted those who were wrong. Even Peter was rebuked by Paul for wrong ideas. Since Obama wants to be the next president of the United States we should closely examine all the things he has said both past and present. And just to be "balanced" that goes for John McCain too.

Mr. Beam, your article is very negative. Where is the Love of Christ? As a pastor, it is your responsibility to provide your people with the truth of God's word and to model for them how to agree to disagree with persons that they may not necessarily like. It is apparent that you do not like Senator Obama. You are entitled to your opinion, please ensure that your personal feelings do not prohibit you from presenting a balanced presentation of Senator Obama. And for God's sake, do not present it as if God is endorsing John McCain. Is John McCain born-again? Why has he not shared that with the American people?

Finally Dr. Dobson was very wrong. He may do better trying to meet the needs of people that are hungry, in prison, homeless, void of a relationship with Christ, than to try to insert himself in politics as some political savior of the Gospel. The Word of God is able to stand on its own. God does not need the endorsement of Dr. Dobson on His word.
