This article captured my attention and I can't help but feel the "Golden Rule" applies in marriage just as it does elsewhere. Mutual respect for each other is vital, but unfortunately it sometimes dies in a relationship and one person seems to be doing all the right things but something is out of sync. I was married for over 40 years to a "control freak" and nothing I ever did seemed to be the "right" thing.

It would be interesting to read an article on "How a Husband can Reach the Heart of His Wife".

I know this is so true after 30 years of marriage. I always greet my husband at the door when he comes home with a smile then ask him what he wants to drink, water, iced tea, etc... and always tell him how handsome he is when we get dressed to go to church or out of the house together. When he is very tired I tell him how much I appreciate his hard work.

But I found out he was calling a women from his work once a week for over a year now & one day in April he said he was
going to play golf. I had recorder in his car and he called this women and said can you see me?? Then do you
want a donut???she said no. He said what?? Then laughed because then he said you got sophopia's (breasts?)for me?
ha ha...

I was crushed & the Lord said he would take care of it & the next week he again said he was going to play golf & I put recorder in car and he found it & was very angry & then I told him to listen to recording #2 from
last week. He said sorry & acts like it never happened.

I have rarely read such trite before. This article suggests that men are no more than overgrown children. I watched Sharon on "It's A New Day" this morning and I can tell you that I was aghast about her view of men's needs. The "His Needs, Her Needs" notion of relationships between men and women has basically been proven false. Jaynes' worldview places men as nothing more than overgrown children still requiring their mother's approving coos. What garbage. I do not need my wife to tell me how wonderful I am, nor do I need the public and inappropriate demonstrative door-posting of love notes or contrived love poems. This is the type of writing that denigrates men and reduces marriage to an extension of mommy-child rather than man and woman. I am no longer a child in a man's skin, but I have grown up. 1 Cor. 13:11.

I like most of what she said, but I think that we need to always point our husbands back to Christ. I'm not saying we're the Holy Spirit, it's not our job to convict, but we can be like Barnabas and be an encourager. Maybe instead of comparing our husbands to other men, maybe we could say, "honey, what you just did reminded me of the scripture when Jesus did ____." I think that Christ is the standard we should all, men and women, use to measure our worth.
