Dr. Dobson Was Right to Challenge Obama

Post by litfire2000

christians come in many shapes sizes and yes, oh my gosh dare i say it, beliefs. roman catholics interpret some things different than evangelical fundamentalists, baptists differ from methodists who differ from disciples of christ, etc. dr. dobson has the right, as an american to challenge obama, but the reverse is also true. christians who take the stand that only their interpretation or presentation of the bible is the "one true belief", we run the risk of creating a "christian taliban". christianity is a living organism, not a dead theology. btw i do not agree with some of obama's interpretation but as a christian and an american, i will defend to my death his right to voice his opinions and the right to others to challenge those opinions.

Pay Attention to God's Presence

Post by max4d

This article has really helped me a lot. The part of the article that states focus on what God is doing instead of what you are doing for him really opened my eyes because that's me. In this world we can get so caught up in the issues of life even when doing things for God that we actually can leave God out of it. Thanks for a wonderful article.

Pay Attention to God's Presence

This article is great! It's complete, well thought out, written by someone who has a close relationship with God. I plan to print this article and keep it close by to review occasionally.

Will Smith Can't Save "Hancock"

Post by rgod

I just saw Hancock and while I do agree that there were many places where the language was unacceptable (particularly the cursing by the kids), I understood the purpose of the main character using some profanity - particuarly because of how he saw himself. I think that there were some pieces of this film that were quite good actually. There were some themes about the vulnerability that is part of love (I'm not sure though if I agree with the message sent concerning this), a very good message about who is different types of heros - whether they have supernatural strength or a super-human faith in another person's goodness. There was also a good message about how we see ourselves and the erroneous ways in which we might view past events in our lives - and the impact that has on our current living situation. The theme of responsibility is also present as well. For me, the fact this this movie addressed these themes was admirable.

Will Smith Can't Save "Hancock"

Post by Zippy007

btw- there is no hidden addendum to that passage that says, "unless I am a movie reviewer".

Psalm 101:3

I will set before my eyes
no vile thing.
The deeds of faithless men I hate;
they will not cling to me.

Of course, the whole point of having movie reviews is so we Christians can justify filling our minds with the vileness of the world system and sin we allege to have been saved out from.

Psalm 141:4

Let not my heart be drawn to what is evil,
to take part in wicked deeds
with men who are evildoers;
let me not eat of their delicacies.

Regarding Live From Seattle Changes

Post by goomba12

I am with Priam..the last thing the radio station and the readers need is the current saccharine sweet Christianity-lite on offer at the moment.Please do not give Michelle Mendoza the job of permanent host. We don't need Hallmark card "uplifting" radio so called. We need a real host with some theological backbone to engage the issues of the day. Frankly the afternoon show has gone downhill since Dick Staub left. Who's bright idea was it to replace him with Mark Groom? Nasally mindless radio! Then we get Thor's political shtick and glibness. Please have the courage to make a sound choice and get back to the kind of show Dick Staub offered: thoughtful,theologically informed and relevant.

July 4th: Picnic for One?

Post by echalmersg

Your suggestions are very amusing, but quite a few of them require extensive clean-up. Did you consider just taking a nap?

Regarding Live From Seattle Changes

Post by Priam

I started listening to Live a year ago during my commute, and was challenged by the issues and perspectives floated by Thor and his callers. It is, regrettably, not often that I am challenged to consider practical issues in realistic, Bible-based ways. I always enjoyed it, even if I didn’t agree or identify directly with the conversation.

Lately, the infomercials regarding local charities and fill-in-the-blank for China drove me away.

I tuned in out of curiosity when I heard that Thor was gone (7/3). I cannot deal with the insipid, “encouraging” tone of the program. I don’t know anyone in real life who speaks that way, and I’m not interested in hearing it coming out of my radio, either.

I always wonder – when hosts try to come across as encouraging and uplifting, why does that mean forming opinions for me in a high-pitched, sing-song voice?I recommend KGNW shoot for uniquely uplifting: make us think, don’t spoon feed us fairy-tale drivel. I’m sorry to see Thor's format go.
