Another useful tool for monitoring and blocking your children from certain internet material is Sentry Parental Controls. It allows you to block, monitor and control access to the internet. It sends you immediate alerts to your cell-phone or email address if a child violates what you have set as appropriate material, or if a child gives out personal information on a website or in an instant message. You can even run the program in stealth mode so that the child does not realize it is running.

Installation is very easy, but for parents who have trouble with computer technology and need some extra help, can call the tech support employees and recieve help to install it on their children's computers.

Here are a couple additional things i learned recently:

Netflix has a parental controls section you can select a rating limit.

An important site I learned about for video games is www.esrb.com they rate them, based on violence, etc. Plus if you use a game rental service like www.gamefly.com (netflix for video games) you can set the rating limits in the parental controls to assure you'll never get a game you don't approve of.
